Halfway through the season, your NFL Draft projection is still listed as Undrafted, making it feel impossible to break through? This progression guide is designed specifically for wide receivers. Follow these steps to climb from the bottom of the depth chart to a starting role, boost your draft stock from Undrafted to the Fourth Round in just a few standout performances,  College Football 27 Coins and eventually compete for a First-Round projection—even on Heisman difficulty.

1. Upgrade Your Attributes Immediately Instead of Wasting Your Starting 893 Upgrade Points

Many players assume a five-star recruit starts with elite ratings, only to discover their player is just 65 Overall. If you skip upgrading at the beginning, you'll struggle to earn meaningful playing time.

Raise Speed to 82 first. Speed is the most important threshold for a freshman wide receiver. On Heisman difficulty, you simply won't create separation without it.
Next, prioritize Catching, Agility, and Spin Move. Avoid spending early Upgrade Points on attributes like Strength or physical contact, as they provide far less value during the opening weeks.
Before starting your season, confirm that the difficulty remains on Heisman. Lower difficulties can inflate statistics, but they don't prepare you for tougher opponents later in the season.
2. Manage Your Weekly Agenda Properly Instead of Focusing on a Single Category

Many players spend every week on Training or NIL, only to end up with poor Coach Happiness or an academic suspension after midterms.

Balance your Weekly Agenda across all four categories:

Fitness to maintain stamina and reduce injury risk.
Leadership to strengthen relationships with teammates and coaches.
Academics to keep your GPA under control.
NIL for long-term off-field opportunities.

Starting with a 2.8 GPA, you don't need to panic. Spending one Academic activity each week is enough until Week 8 Midterms. Add a couple more study sessions before Week 15 Finals, and you'll comfortably avoid academic penalties.

Skip unnecessary social events whenever possible. Instead, accept the Offensive Coordinator's Film Study, which awards 1,000 Player XP while improving Coach Happiness, making it far more valuable than attending parties.

3. Never Skip Practice If You Want to Become a Starter

Skipping practice early in the season is one of the fastest ways to lose Coach Happiness and delay your promotion up the depth chart.

Focus on earning top grades in these drills:

Route Running
Catch Timing
Open Field Receiving

Mastering these drills improves catching consistency and reduces costly drops during games.

Don't skip the Two-Minute Offense or Screen Concepts sessions either. These situations frequently appear late in games and provide additional opportunities to earn playing time.

Even if you perform poorly in practice, finish every session instead of quitting. Full participation is far more valuable than abandoning drills after making mistakes.

4. Don't Restart After Your First Game

Many players restart their career after receiving zero offensive snaps against Utah, believing something went wrong.

Nothing is broken.

It's completely normal for a freshman—even a five-star recruit—to receive little or no playing time in the season opener. Stay patient, continue practicing, and keep upgrading your player.

Against Troy, your opportunity finally arrives.

Take advantage of every target. A performance of:

5 Receptions
87 Receiving Yards
1 Touchdown

is enough to move your draft projection from the Seventh Round to the Fourth Round while increasing your future snap count.

If you're playing in heavy rain, avoid forcing sharp cuts. Wet conditions increase the risk of slipping or dropping passes, and costly mistakes can quickly reduce Coach Happiness.

5. Continue Developing Every Week Instead of Relaxing After One Great Game

A single breakout performance doesn't guarantee long-term success.

Once you enter the regular rotation, continue balancing your Weekly Agenda every week. Prioritize football-related activities over unnecessary off-field events.

Spend every new Upgrade Point on receiving skills, route running, and other attributes that directly improve your role as a wide receiver. Don't leave Upgrade Points unspent. Raising your Overall Rating as quickly as possible increases your offensive opportunities and unlocks additional route packages.

6. Treat Every Snap Like the Game-Winning Play

Early in your career, you'll only receive a handful of offensive snaps each game.

Make every one count.

Even a short reception for a few yards is more valuable than forcing an unnecessary big play and dropping the football.

During two-minute offense situations, focus on running the correct routes and moving the chains instead of chasing statistics. Coaches reward consistency, and your quarterback is more likely to target you again if you execute your assignments correctly.
