I've got a 2016 Wrangler that's developed a clunk when I shift into reverse and a vibration that shows up around 70 km/h, and after some reading I'm fairly sure it's the front driveshaft or at least the U joints. So I did the sensible thing and got three quotes. First shop, near the dealer, told me the whole shaft needed replacing and quoted something close to AED 4,000. Second guy, a small garage in Mussafah, said just the joints and wanted around 800. Third one was somewhere in between but couldn't tell me what brand parts he'd use. Now I have no idea who to trust and I'm worried the cheap guy is cheap for a reason. I started looking for Affordable driveshaft repair near Khalifa City because a friend mentioned a place out that way, and honestly I just want someone who will actually inspect it, tell me if it's joints or the shaft itself, and not just swap everything. Has anyone dealt with a driveshaft clunk before? What did it actually turn out to be and how much did you pay in the end? Also is there any way to tell if a shop is using decent U joints versus the cheapest ones that will fail in six months? Not trying to cheap out, just trying not to get ripped off either.
